Interface to Carrier CCN Device Controls.

Case Study:

A 40-year old, multi-story, downtown building was being renovated and prepared for leased office space to multiple tenants.  The existing HVAC equipment and pneumatic controls were to be replaced.

The new design called for new Carrier Vertical Packaged Units, one per floor, to be installed.   Then, as each floor was occupied, tenant build-out would included VAV terminals and DDC controls to suit the floorplan.

The building automation system requirement was for a single system to integrate HVAC control as well as security access control for each tenant.

An Andover Controls Continuum™ system was selected to meet these requirements and provide the flexibilty for future expansion based on tenant needs.  The Carrier Vertical Packaged Units were equipped with factory installed controllers compatable with Carrier's Comfort Network™  (CCN).

The PC workstation used for the Andover Cyberstation software was also equipped with eDrive  to interface Continuum to the Carrier CCN controllers.  Point information could then flow easily between the two systems.

As the tenant finish work proceeded, the system was expanded to bring in the additional unit and VAV terminal controllers neccessary on each floor.  Occupancy schedule control was coordinated between the packaged units and the terminals.

As a result, both the package unit controllers and the VAV terminal controllers were brought together into a single system.  The building manager was also able to offer coordinated lighting control and card access control for each tenant over the same system.
