In April of 2010, St. Luke’s Hospital, Jacksonville, Florida, partnered with Facility Automation
Solutions to replace their entire existing Honeywell card access control system for their facility.
This included the hospital and the medical office buildings as well. The system provides security
for the facility, in particular, the Family Birthing Area, to include the “Hugs” tracking system for
additional security for newborn infants and the facility’s ability to track each newborn and their
location at all times, thereby reducing the opportunity for kidnapping of newborn infants at this
hospital and giving new parents an additional sense of security.
Facility Automation Solutions’ Service Director, Rich Frey, worked as the key interface with the
hospital Security and Administration during the transition from the old system. The project was
done with very little impact to the ongoing operations and safety of the hospital staff and patients.
