St. Johns River State College-St. Augustine Campus, New Science Building
May 15, 2010
Construction was completed on May 15, 2010 of the SJRSC’s new Science Building along with energy plant improvements at the St. Augustine campus.  Facility Automation Solutions has provided the controls for these new projects and has provided the latest system to allow the school to provide more sustainable buildings. In an effort to work with the campus as a partner, FAS and SJRSC are looking into more ways to reduce the energy used on their multi-campus college system.  One of the ways will be using SentryLogic service to help them monitor and analyze their building’s energy loads. Located at 9735 R.G. Skinner Parkway on Jacksonville’s Southside, Atlantic Coast High School opened its doors to new students on Monday, August 23, 2010 for the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year.  According to DCPS’ website,, Atlantic Coast High School is often referred to as a ‘school of the future’ because of its architectural design and advanced technology. The buildings are organized into small learning communities (SLC), which contain a series of academic houses or ‘schools’.  Each school will include approximately 600 students which will further be organized into grade level groups or ‘teams’ of 150 students.  The building design, along with the organization of the SLC’s, provide flexible educational spaces with extended learning areas to encourage project based cooperative learning. State-of-the-art technology is available throughout the campus to provide advanced academic environments to meet the needs of today’s digital learners.  This technology will also support the two career academies, Scientific Visualization and 3D Animation and Gaming. This high school is designed to be part of the growth of Jacksonville and will provide flexible community use facilities.  We at Facility Automation Solutions are excited to provide the Duval County Public Schools with their building automation and control needs, now and into the future.
